ROUNDTABLE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AWARDED FOR SERVICE TO EDUCATION

Washington, D.C.—March 4, 2010—Executive Director and General Counsel of The Financial Services Roundtable, Richard M. Whiting, was awarded the Vicennial Medal for his more than 20 years of service on the faculty of the Georgetown University Law School. During this year's Spring Faculty Convocation held on March 3, Georgetown University President, John J. DeGioia, honored Mr. Whiting and other faculty members from the University.

Mr. Whiting has taught in the Masters of Laws program at the Georgetown University Law Center since 1989, leading a course entitled The Federal Law of Financial Institutions. Over the years, he has instructed nearly one-thousand students in this subject area and many of his students have assumed significant legal positions in private and public practice in Washington and around the country. In fact, several of his students have joined Roundtable member companies including Zurich Financial Services, Bank of America Corporation and Citigroup, Inc., as well as the staffs of Congressional Committees and federal financial regulatory agencies.

Roundtable President and CEO, Steve Bartlett, lauded this recognition saying, “We honor Rich and his service to education and to the Georgetown University Law Center. It is particularly gratifying to know that so many of his students have graduated and joined some of our member companies. I believe that the recognition he has received reflects the values the Roundtable espouses: professionalism, constancy and service.”

Mr. Whiting earned his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 1973 and joined the Roundtable in February, 1984.

The Financial Services Roundtable represents 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, and investment products and services to the American consumer. Member companies participate through the Chief Executive Officer and other senior executives nominated by the CEO.

Roundtable member companies provide fuel for America's economic engine, accounting directly for $74.7 trillion in managed assets, $1.1 trillion in revenue, and 2.3 million jobs.
